TEDxSydney 2022 Opening Titles
TEDxSydney
TEDxSydney is the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world. The 2022 event 'Imprint' brought together a stellar lineup of speakers, thinkers and performers who asked us to question on a personal and global scale what marks we want to leave behind.
Our brief was to create opening titles for for TEDxSydney’s flagship event with 2022’s theme of “Imprint” that would set the tone for the speakers and performers to come.
Through a lens of past, present and future, we were tasked to investigate and communicate the imprints humanity has left – our decisions, stories and lives.
Our goal was to bring to attention that each step we take creates a ripple effect – our today defines our tomorrow. Ultimately, provoking the attendees to consider the question, “What mark will you leave?”
Our approach explores how humanity has left its mark throughout time with motifs referencing storytelling, arts, culture, industrialisation, waste, and warfare. These visuals reflect the hope, strength, courage, hubris and greed that shape our futures. The use of pages, hallways and tunnels in the film guides the viewers to travel between past, present and future, ending with a hopeful vision that beckons us to question what kind of futures we want to create.

Our team underwent a lengthy process of sketching, making scamps and mockups and creating test builds to art direct and execute the end shot as it was the big finish of the film, and needed to leave a lasting impact on the audience, getting them excited for what was to come.
